Okay, mechanics, here is the deal:my car will crank and crank and crank but it wo not turn over.l have replaced the coil pack, but l am now at a loss for what else to do.The battery is only a year old, so l do not think that is the problem.l am guessing it is a fuel line/filter/pump problem.Anyone have any input?
If this helps, it wo not jump start.After replacing the coil pack, it ran for a little while.l turned the car off and then tried to start it again and it would never turn over.

Have you checked the spark plugs??? They might need replacing or the batter might need charging, if you have been playing music in it while it has been off, it might have worn the battery down. Jump start it with jumper cables and let it run for a little bit

It can be the starter itself. It is on the side on ur sparkplugs.
Maybe the battery is dead again?? It could also be the wiring for the battery. Those somtimes get old & stop working.
Try jumping it with the jumper cables.
That always works.
Keep it running for like 8 minutes,
and then turn it off
and ty turning it on again.

And see if that helps.
Maybe drive it to get some fuel running through the system.

l would say it is the starter or the fuel pump.. l had a 2003 cavalier coupe and it just stalled while l was driving in the middle of winter. Turned out to be th fuel pump. Was under $600! it was really expensive..You should really take it to a mechanic to make sure.

The spark plugs or did you check your oil?

My guess is you ran down the battery, so now it will not even turn over. As to your first problem, when it did crank before you drained the battery, most likely guess is a bad fuel pump, Cavalier fuel pumps are notorious for failing. This is why a proper diagnosis is essential, you wasted money replacing perfectly good coils. Pay for a diagnosis and replace only what needs replacing.

Ok, if it cranks like (ranna ranna ranna ranna) then it is not the starter. If u just changed the coils & it worked then it is not the new coil. If it does ''click, clickity-clickity-click'' then it is ur battery. Otherwise buy new spark plugs & a new wireset. If it still does the same thing, try going to a real mechanic & maybe he or she might tell u that it is the starter solenoid.

For now it is either ur plugs and/or ur wireset for the plugs or the starter solenoid.

To make it cheaper, take off ur battery & ur starter. Take them to an AutoZone close to u & ask them to test both. They will do it for free. Then go from there. If both starter & battery r good ask for plugs & the wireset. Or just ask a Zoner (red shirt) guy. :)
