1. run the engine until it is empty
2. drill a hole in it

Whatever u do, DON'T drill a hole in it. Unless u want an explosion.
You can try to siphon as much out as possible, the run it dry. Do not try to mouth siphon. Just dangerous.
If u r going to drop the tank, u can do it with some help, even with some fuel in it. Place a floor jack under it, loosen the mounting straps, & slowly lower it. When u get it partially down, u will need to disconnect the lines & electric from the top of the tank, before u can lower it all the way. Just go slow, & use some help.

l am assuming that ur fuel pump is NOT working. Or l would tell u to remove the fuel filter, turn on the key & allow the fuel pump to pump fuel from the tank (it will take some cycling of the ignition key, but it will work).

Siphon from the tank is ur only bet. There is not a drain plug so do not waste ur time. Just ket a few feet of hose & suck. l use clear hose so l can see the fuel before l get any in my mouth. You can siphon the level to below 1/4, then 1 person can easily wrestle the tank from under the truck.

The next time l have to replace the pump in my truck, l am cutting a hole in the bed! Fuel pumps r common problems on these, so l am gonna make a trap door to get to it.
