Hi guys...

A little bit of background. l have a 1980 Corvette l have been rebuilding. It is almost done, but now l am very curious about the engine. The engine is not the original, but seems to be a 350 Chevy from a 75 Camaro with a 2 bbl Carburetor(according to the VIN #). At some point, the intake manifold was replaced with one of a 305 engine with its 4bbl Quadrajet carb.... (and maybe other modifications).
Given it is obviously a Frankenstein 350 4bbl engine, would you have an idea of the Horsepower my car has right now? here are some facts:
-The car somewhat rumbles.,... maybe it has a mild cam?
-It accelerates good...once l drag raced against a Toyota Tundra with a 5.7Land l was able to Keep uppast the 60 MPH mark
-It has manifolds, no headers
-The original 1975 camaro engine had 145 HP, but it certainly feels like it has more now.

Is there any way to find out? can l time it going from 0 to 60MPH and get an idea? would a dyno test be too rough on an older engine like that? and not knowing how it was put together?

you can probably calculate an approximate horsepower if you get a good 0-60 time and know the exact weight of your car. l would search google for ''horsepower calculator.'' l would not expect anything miraculous from your 350, as by 1975, the compression was in the tank and the motors did not make much power. But on the other hand, with a better carb and (maybe) a cam, your 350 should at least be making 200hp.

If u indeed have the 75 350 but now have a 4 barrel its rated around 155 hp. This is probably pretty accurate, If ur looking for more performance, start thinking about a crate motor. You can get one with around 200 hp for 1500.00 to 1800.00 As the hp goes up so does the price. You can pick up a 350 290 horse for just under $2000.00

For around $4-5000.00 u can get a 350 to 400 hp engine.
