if l bought a camaro ss body but dropped a different engine and other parts inside it for drag racing would it still be an SS?
i was curious about that so l thought id get other opinions.

The VIN number will identify it as an SS made at the factory. A different engine or modifications will not change this fact, but it will affect the value.

If you have the original, numbers matching engine for ths car, put it aside in case you ever want to restore it to original. Any classic muscle car will be worth more if it has the original drivetrain.

Yeah the body tag may indicate its an SS but it no longer is worth anymore than a regular car once it gets chopped up into a race car. The value of SS cars is in numbers matching complete cars. If its already missing a bunch of parts it would make a cool drag machine.

Just because l removed the 250 inline 6 and replaced it with a 454 does not mean the cars not a 250 inline six or that is what my insurance company thinks.

Just like what Junior said if the VIN number says its an SS its an SS or in my case if the VIN number says its a 250 inline 6 then to my insurance company its a 250 inline 6.
