l just bought the car and want more opinions in what should be replaced as far as performance parts.

the engine would be a great place to start. cold air intake? turbo?

well if its stock then its a 305 start with all new piston rings and seals then aftermarket valves then cold air, headers, exahust, turbo/supercharger, l suggest supercharger cuz turbo lag sucks balls

cold air intake, headers and exhaust, super charger, performance intake, aluminum everything (instead of steel or iron), performance fuel injectors. more fuel + more air + higher compression = WOW. keep that in mind. btw, beef up your motor means you have to beef up your tranny, rearend, and u-joints. Save ur money & get a LS1 (345 hp) or LS2 (405 hp) from a wrecked 1997 or newer Vette.

Compare those figures to the 215HP ur engine makes.

These corvette engines r aluminum & much better than a 305. They're the same size & will bolt right in. l think there is a weight savings of over a hundred pounds off the nose of ur car, so it should handle better too.

Even better would be a LS3 .. 430 horse power . but they will be expensive. even used. for the next few years . A LS7 (505 hp) will always be expensive.

They r very dependable engines, & strong as hell. stock.

The other posters r right but their suggestions could be done later on to the new engine.but sometimes mods lead to dependability problems.

So get a REAL engine in there first. & THEN start the mods later.

A used LS1 can be found for around $2000 or $3000. Another $1500 for the labor. & u will have a real hotrod. Might have to get a new tranny, l am not sure .but ur rearend should be fine, at least for a while.

There is a brand NEW one on ebay right now.still in the crate for $3500.

If you really want to fix it up. Take the engine out and check everything out( the crank, cam (change that to your liking), main bore, pistons, rods, valve train) Replace anything out of spec and change the rings, head gasket, all that stuff. If you do all that you will make more power, then start adding power adders, aftermarker performace parts (headers, exhaust, turbo, etc) Good luck, thats a beautiful car.

First - u need to decide what the goal is. Street, strip, street & strip?

2nd, u need a budget - we can not tell u what to do without knowing how deep ur wallet is!

3rd, we need to know what u have already. Is it a 305 or a 350? Is it an automatic or 5 speed? What is the mileage?

4th, u need to build THE REST OF THE CAR to handle any additional power if it is going to be street. These cars flex alot (unibody frames), & they need subframe connectors & strut tower braces for any street application. You will need new shocks, struts, springs all around. New ball joints, tie rod ends, & ALL the bushings replaced (what I've listed so far alone will eat up about $1800).

5th, what r the legal limitations where u live? Are u required to follow emissions testing?

In other words, anyone that can truly help u needs way more information!
