Depends - is the 87 Buick a Turbo T? If so, the Buford, no doubt! The 87 Monte is nice, but a little anemic in the performance department.

If its the 6cyl Regal, then the Monte, because the 6 has no top end.

If its the 8cyl, l do not think the 86-87 were chevy powered. l think they have the Oldsmobile 307. The Monte has a 305 Chevy. The cubic inches r minor, but the Olds 307 is a 3.8 bore versus the 305 is 3.74 bore. The old is stroke is shorter than the Chevy's. While this sounds inconsequential, the bore/stroke ratio makes the Olds 307 a better breathing engine. Its a little more expensive to do, but the difference is there.

Style wise, l think u get a sexier car with the SS, since it has curves where the Buford doesn't. Interiors r a personal preference, but l think the Chevy is got a better gauge cluster, while the Buick is interior is more comfortable. Handling goes to the SS - the Buick has a little too much bounce & sway (although u can easily change that with a different shock/spring combo).

the 307 was not a good motor. l had one in my 87 caprice, junk! if possible, find a 350 or 305, those ones are almost identical, one just has slighty bigger pistons.

Monte Carlo SS any day. The cars are awesome. Buick Regal is just the cheap knock off.

monte is my number one choice l have an 85 ss very happy with
but l think a Buick Grand national would be even cooler then the regal

if its a regal t-type it will have the same engine as the grad national did. it would blow the doors off a monte. l like the look of the montes, but they put out only 200 hp stock.

Like others said if the Regal is a turbo 6 car GET IT. There is no comparison.

If it is just a regular Regal then get the SS.
