l am looking to maybe get a Camaro or Firebird or Trans-am and am just a little curious about the mileage.l know they do get pretty good mielage but how good do the V8 is get and what do the V6 is get.Any idea is appreciated.l was also curious about the insurance.If you know anything about the insurance costs let me know.Im 17 and right now l pay about $80 a month for full insurance on a 99 4x4 truck and have never had an accident, so if you have any idea of what cny kind of coverage is, l appreciate it.
Ive heard the ws-6 is get really good, like up to 25 mpg.

93 Camaro Z-28 gets about 17 in town and around 24 highway. l would think the other V8 models would get about the same.

Even the v6 models of those cars will be expensive insurance, because they are still classified as sports cars. The v8 versions of those cars come with monstrous engines, the camaro will have at least a 305 in it, and will get probably around 18 MPG. Expect high insurance and if you get the v8, high gas prices.

These numbers r from 1995 Camaro
but should be the same for all 4th-gen F-bodies

V6: 17c, 26h (same for both auto & stick)
V8: 15c, 24h (same for both automatic & stick)

Also note that the V8 requires premium gas, whereas the V6 takes regular. Make sure u account for this!

So according to EPA, u lose 2 mpg by going for the V8, plus the extra cost for using premium.

Also, the V8 stick cars' 6-speed transmission also has a skip-shift feature where in slow city driving, it forces u to shift from first to fourth to save gas, but still it only gets 15 mpg & u have to use premium. The V6 stick lacks this feature & only has 5 speeds.

My recommendation is to get the V6 automatic with T-Tops in any color except red. Insurance will be the least with this configuration.

l have a 95' Z28 Camaro with a V8 l get 17mpg running it pretty hard on back roads and 20 mpg running at 85mph on the highway. l am 21 and pay $515 a year for minimum coverage. Good Luck with your purchase, mine is a 6 speed and it is a very fun car to drive. It will do over a 100mph in 4th gear, oh haha and l got my first speeding ticket with it too
