Do you mean install? it should go right in twisting it around to get the lobes through the bearings..(the distributor has to be out)

If you mean break in.. make sure you have the lobes coated with assembly lube, after its all together start it up and vary the rpm from 1000rpm and 3500 rpm for about 20 minutes

the cam doeas not need to be seated.

olz431 is correct if it is a flat tappet hydraulic or solid lifter cam.

There is no break in required for roller cams.

the break in for all cam shafts,no matter what it is a roller or hydrolic of flat tappet,has to be run for 20 min.at 2,000 rpms if not you will,let me express YOU WILL WIPE OUT THE CAM if you do not break it in first.all that time and money shot 2 satin.
