the left brake is clicking when l aply the brakes what the heck is this? and also when aplying the brakes the steering wheel is starting to shake on a long trip an the left brake clicking now also...also the engeine light comes on often an when im at a stop it wants to go(sort of speak) revs up''high then low'' but again its in great shape garege kepted one owner 68,000 miles,ive noticed theres no room for any more numbers on the milige thingy or am l missing something,for the price(free) what is wrong an can l fix these little problems?i'm a welder not a machanic l did put new life time heavy duty shocks on her,thanks in advance a friend in christ jerry/c-m-a member,have a great day/night/week/end..p.s. thanks for any INFO.p.s.s. for the our church to pick up people that dont have wheels is wye l got her
p.s.s.s. sorry l forgot to add l just got it inspected three day ago an they said the brakes are like brand new but only pulled the right front an left back an l seen all them when l put the shocks on an they do look brand new,an the gentleman l got it from just had it tuned up well new oil an a vacum line or something he said

Well first off you need new brakes and new rotors at the least, hence the clicking and the shaking while braking. Then you might need a major tune up and you will need to get it scanned for the codes

it sounds like you need new brakes. as far as the steering wheel shaking, it could be your tires need air or a tire is out of balance. it also could be your ball joints or other steering problems. id start with checking the air and go from there.

The clicking could be just a weak tensioner on the caliper,try jet washing it before taking it apart,sometimes, a build up of dirt can cause it,failing this get both front brake pads changed.
the flickering oil light might be a faulty oil pressure switch, if it go is out when u pull away,then nothing to worry about, the milometer is normal,and will go back to zero on reaching99999,if it gets that far.
As for the reving up & down,you may have a problem on the vacume advance,get it checked out

I've got a Pontiac van with the same click. My mechanic tells me that Chev uses plastic bushings around the bolts that hold the calipers in place. They wear out frequently, but there should be no reason for concern. They can be replaced very cheaply next time u change ur brake pads.

I'ld bet my bottom dollar that the shake with the brake application is uneven wear of ur rotors. You probably want to get them turned by a garage as they usually get worse, not better. Good time to change those plactic bushings. The pads can be 100%, but ur rotors should be looked at. You can just leave it too. If u do not drive it hard, leave it unless the shake gets profound.

Unless u have seperate.oil lights & alternator lights, the engine light commonly comes on to indicate that either the alternator is not putting out because the RPM is r too low, or ur oil pressure sensor is tired & cannot sense oil pressure when idling. Do not worry about it unless the light stays on when u start moving again!

When dealing with ''miles'' there is often no 6th digit on the odometer especially on the early 80 is & older vehicles. The best way to tell if it has 68 000, or 168 000 miles is to look at the brake pedal. If it is well worn, u have 168 000 miles.
