Just got an insurance inspection on my chev today, and it came back with a long list of things l need to fix before it is ''roadworthy'' again. l figured I'd kick things off with my faulty ignition switch, which causes ''intermittent power to wipers''. Once you start up the beast, you have to twist the key just a little bit further for the windshield wipers to work. The wiper selection switch thing works fine, but there appears to be a short in the tumbler or something. It is a little loose, so I am guessing it is worn out.

Is there a way l can fix this short without replacing the switch? And if I am going to have to replace the module thing, which part should l use? Am l going to have to re-key it? Please include a link to the item.

usually we start with the obvious, the ignition switch needs replacing. but, only the electrical portion of the ''system''. see there is two parts to this ''switch'' A)key or mechanical portion, & B)electrical portion, a sliding switch mounted on lower steering column.usually l would try adjusting the sliding elect.switch first. if that doesnt solve it them l would replace it. l think u r describing a worn out electrical portion. tumblers only prevent someone else is key from starting ur vehicle
