l wanna change it from single exhaust to dual l t has a catl. converter
i assume l have to have a converter on all the time so recomondations for a performance converter to work well with a 350 chevy small block l am thinking hooker headers down into a 2 1/2 -3 in pipe then into cherry bomb mufflers all wrapped with exhaust heat tape for noise and heat reduction and a little xtra HP . any knowledge would be wonderful. you give me the best configuration. thanks

As opposed to a miniature one?

l have the 87 GMC PU, 4x4 and just replaced almost everything, when It came to the exhaust l stuck with the stock exhaust manifolds going into a 2 1/2 pipe then into a single, then the cat, then a flowmaster, then split and two pipes out the rear, sound real nice and still passes smog, unless you feel like running 2 cats that is one way you could do it,

Try headers into a three inch single exhaust you will get better bottom end torque which is what you need to get that four thousand pound monster up to speed quickly. Unless, of course, you just want the true dual sound, in which case two and a half inch is the biggest i'd run on a mild small block.

Small primary Doug Thorley headers really fit and preform well. Sweep into a single or dual performance cats then into dual Dynomax Super Turbo mufflers. Tail pipes or a side out kit in front of the rear wheels would be more out of the ordinary and SOUND REALLY DEEP & LOUD.
