l like the looks of the early 2nd gens. But l also like the looks of the late 4th gens. Which would be easiest to maintain, cheapest, and which is the overall best investment?

A car is in no way to be confused with an actual investment, but the 4th Gen is the better all around ride by your requirements, looks aside.

Best investment would be the early model. when it comes time to sell you will get your money out sooner.

l had a 76 rally sport camaro and a 86 Camaro. l know you guys talk all the car talk, however is this car gonna be your every day ride? or do you want it to just pleasure ride in?
my advice if its your everyday car and your only set of wheels go w/the later model. you will need a more reliable car. keep that in mind. :)

The 2nd generation motor is alot easier to maintain if you know about cars, theres nothing to that motor. You would not have any problems with it. The 4th Generations parts are probbly more exspensive if you ever have any problems and they are harder to find the problem on. The cheapest to maintain is probably the older one. Older one probably easier to sell sepending on condition.

Both are good cars though.

l would Get The 70 is Camaro,No Computer,and No Sensors,easier to Maintain,and the value for Resale,if A collector Want is To Buy It From You They will Pay Your Price. Good Luck.

Newer is going to be more reliable. The older one will be easier to work on & being almost 40 years old its going to need some work.

Cars r rarely a good investment. Miles, dents, & a poor quality restoration r its enemy & will lower its value quite a bit. Too much risk of something happening if u actually plan on driving it.

LS1 is r not 350 ci either. They r 346 ci.

The later models do almost everything better and being newer in better shape.

If u can work on it yourself & r willing to the 1970 - 72 Camaro would be nice. l love vintage cars & drove one for years. A 1998 - 2002 Camaro is only going to go down in value where a 1970 - 72 is going up. The gotcha on it is that u have to maintain the older vehicle well & keep it in good condition for it to be valuable. Otherwise, it is old junk.

It also depends on what kind of driving you're going to be doing. The older cars r noisy, the a/c is not as good & they r harder to drive than contemporary cars. If you're doing a 5-10 miles commute every day with fairly safe parking so that the car does not get a bunch on door dings & dents, get the older one. If you're doing a 20 mile commute in traffic & going to stuff it in a full parking lot, then get the more contemporary one. You will be happier driving it & wo not have to worry about the dents.
