My truck started to run hot one day. l stopped a few miles down the road from where this happened to let it cool off and add water, when l tried to start it, it wouldnt start after a while l decided to pull the air filter off because l hadnt checked the air filter in a while and figured maybe it wasnt getting enough air. when l pulled if out it was drenched in oiland now it just wont start at all. The engine was not knocking nor did it show any warning signs of any problems. Any suggestions?

blowby caused by bad piston rings by the sound of things try cleaning the plugs.if it does it again its in need of new rings

Short of your PCV valve being plugged up, oil in the air filter (from the breather filter) would suggest the piston rings are shot, and the PCV can not keep up with all the blow-by. Cleaning the plugs may help, and of course replace the air filter. If you do get it running, check the PCV for proper operation. A compression check will also show if the rings are bad for sure.
