l have a 99 chevy blazer 2 door.l am having trouble with it while it is reverse.When you first start the truck and put it in reverse it does not wanna go.The rpms go up but it will only back up slowly or just coast.But after you drive it for a while l no longer have this problem.Anyone have any ideas of what l need to look at.Also it has trouble going up steep hills the rpms will rev but wo not go any faster.

l checked the transmission fluid.It is red not brown and does not smell burnt.So l basicly need to get the filter changed?Anyone able to give me some instruction on how to do that or should l just get it done at a shop?l would prefer to do it myself.

Check the transmission fluid level first, follow the instructions on the dip stick, not all are the same. If the fluid level is good, do it yourself, or have the transmission fluid and filter changed. If that does not correct the problem contact a reputable transmission shop. Beware of poor workmanship, get references, and check them. Good luck with it.

sounds like your tranny filter is clogged change it and fluid if this dos not work then you are looking at a new tranny

check your transmission fluid level. On GMs ,,,some have a dip stick and some don't.
The ones that do not are checked via a plug under the car/truck.

Check the trans fluid level, check for burnt smell on the fluid and discoloration. Fluid should be slight dark red not brown or dark brown.
If Ok you can try a quick fix, drain the fluid and use one of those transmission repair additives.
Bottom line you need to get the trans rebuild.

u need to change the transmission fluid & the transmission filter. also check the transmission fluid level before u drive anywhere again, its easy start it & leave it in park, then pop the hood the dip stick for the trans will be on the left hand side toward the top of the engine bay, u then check it same as oil pull it out wipe it off put it back in & make sure its within the marks.
if u want to do repairs yourself u need to go to the auto parts store most any will have what u need & what u need is the repair manual for ur car there r around 50 bucks depending where u go & it will tell u how to do anything & everything to fix ur car
