Ok l drive a 1994 Chevy Cavalier RS Coupe and it has a 3.1 liter multi port fuel injected 6 cylinder V6 with about 118,000 miles on it right now and its about time for its next oil change and im wondering what the best oil to use for my specific car?l was thinking about useing castrol syntec high mighleage oil but ive heard it isnt as good as its claimed to be so can someone tell me what oil should l use.Im looking to get the best performance out of my car.

you should probably use the same oil that you would use for a 2 stroke =)

stick with one oil from the start - that is the safest.

if u insist on, or have to switch oils; change oil & filter, drive 50 to 100 miles, change oil & filter again. This will greatly reduce the chance of adverse chemical reactions between the different types of motor oil.

When u get a new car, pick an oil & filter, that meets the manufacturer is recommendations, & stick with them. Change ur oil per the manual, & the engine should go well over 250K miles.

Manufacturer recommends 5W-30. Stick with a major name brand. We use Chevron at the dealership where l work.

There is no real major difference between the synthetics and the regular mineral oils anymore. The regular motor oils are so extensively engineered that it would take a laboratory analysis to tell the differences, which arent much. My suggestion is to not waste your money on synthetics just to satisfy some advertising executives greed.
